He said that he would evaluate their work according to the quality of the pot.

The better is the pot, the higher grade they get.

Второй группе Мудрец сказал сделать по 50 горшков каждому ученику.

The Sage said that every disciple of the second group had to make 50 pots.

Не важно, какого качества, лишь бы их было 50 штук.

The quality doesn’t matter, the amount must be 50 pieces.

По окончании эксперимента выяснилось, что пятидесятый горшок у второй группы получился гораздо качественнее, чем единственный горшок у первой группы.

By the end of the experiment, the every 50th pot of the second group disciples turned out to be much better than the single pot of the first group disciples.

Потому что ученики второй группы учились на своих ошибках.

Because the disciples of the second group learnt from their mistakes.

И каждый следующий горшок получался у них лучше предыдущего.

And every next pot was better than previous one.

Однажды Ветер и Солнце поспорили о том, кто из них сильнее.

Once the Wind and the Sun argued who of them was stronger.

Долго они спорили и решили проверить свою силу на одном путешественнике.

They had been arguing for a long time and decided to test their strength on a traveler.

– Я быстро сорву с него плащ! – сказал Ветер.

“I’ll quickly blow off his cloak!” the Wind said.

И начал дуть.

And it has started blowing.

Он дул очень сильно и долго.

It was blowing very strong and long.

Но человек только плотнее закутывался в свой плащ.

But the person mantled in his cloak more.

Тогда Солнце начало пригревать путника.

Then the Sun has started warming up the traveler.

Он сначала опустил воротник.

At first he lowered his collar.

Потом развязал пояс.

Then he untied the belt.

А потом снял плащ и понёс его на руке.

Afterwards he took off the cloak and carried it on his arm.

Солнце сказало Ветру:

The Sun said to the Wind,

– Видишь, добром и лаской можно добиться гораздо большего, чем насилием.

“Do you see that kindness and caress help you more than violence.”

Однажды один человек купил на базаре овощи.

One day a man has bought vegetables at the market.

Приехав домой, он обнаружил, что торговцы вместо овощей положили в его повозку груду камней.

Having come home, he found out that sellers put in his wagon a pile of stones instead of vegetables.

Но он не поехал обратно ругаться с торговцами.

But he didn’t come back to argue with the sellers.

Он просто выбросил камни.

He just threw away the stones.

И вот через сорок лет в его дом постучались.

And in forty years he got a knock in his door.

Когда человек открыл дверь, на пороге стояли дряхлые старики.

When the man opened the door, he saw old infirm men, standing at the doorstep.

– Здравствуй, – сказали они.

“Hello,” they said.

Это мы обманули тебя тогда, и мы пришли просить прощения.

“We were these people, who cheated you, we came to apologize.”

Человек ответил:

The man answered,

– Я помню тот случай.

“I remember that incident.

Я простил вас в тот же день, выбросив камни в яму.

I forgave you the same day I threw stones away into the pit.

А вы их сорок лет носили в своём сердце.

But you had been carrying them in your heart for forty years.”
